yikes- been mentally stalking Taraji Henson for years, and today i find out she's from DC?! dayum, dayum, DAYUM...

BUT- my man Sam (who apparently serves as my unofficial swami/pundit/advisor) sent me an email that says i shouldn't go see Hustle & Flow due to [insert diatribe about black film imagery here].

shiit- does this mean that i gotta go back to Baby Boy again? hell, Paula Jai is in this jont too!

scruples and standards must be upheld. i'ma protest Fustle & Ho. yup, i'm gon' have my feet all up on the back of your neck, chewin' popcorn loudly and i shall finish by superchomping ALL the ice in the biggest damn trough of soda those AMC bastards have to sell me.

then again, i've seen about 5 movies in a theater in the past 4 years.

eh- i'll just have to be satisfied with the premier pictures...

1) no one should have to see baby boy more than once. i'm surprised there hasn't been a memo circulated around the white house about that movie...signed by alberto gonzales.

2) i think i'm going to go see hustle & flow. i'm praying that it'll inspire a barrage of wack southern rappers with a dream to oversaturate the market even moreso than now, which should, on that tipping point science, trigger a revolution.

but nowadays?
PC America done created 2 things that got us alllllll twisted up:
1- Offendism, aka prejudice/discrimination against our absurdly heightened sensitivity; and
2- Hateflection, aka the selective refusal to process critique as anything other than jealousy or disrespect

and it ain't a black or white thing either- IT'S EVERYWHERE; man, ask Karl Rove if i'm lyin'- this is how the election was won/lost...

but anyways- my basic point is that there have been about 30 posts to "Intelligent Discourse" in 2005 and the stats look like this: (and i readily admit that i've been slackin' on the blog)

POEM-CEES SUCK

...at blogging (some of us more than others, I admit) but for real BOYhave we got some stuff to tell you.

We still haven't told you about our trip to NY to tape Def Poetry even though it's already aired

We haven't told you about our trip to LA to record for Def Jam Mobile/American Greetings

We haven't told you about our trip to the UK

We haven't told you about our performance at the Hip Hop Theater Festival

We aint told y'all sh*t

I haven't told you about how I met Phylica Allen at DPJ & embarrassed myself [#1] by repeatedly calling her Ms Rashad (shes been divorced from Ahmad Rashad for years now) [#2] by cornering her in a booth & stammering for no less than 5 minutes refusing to let her leave my presence until I could remember the name of a mutual acquaintance that she didn't remember anyway! [#3] The whole time I'm sitting there people kept coming up to her in awe & reverence saying things like "oh my god" & "you're just like my own mother" and I'm angrily shooing them all away & kicking at them. Remember that look that Clair used to give Sandra's Stupid Boyfriend Elvin? She gave me that look. I swear to god I've never felt so honored.
