Okay, whatever happened at the Vibe awards with Dr. Dre & them, happened - I'll take that...

And of course, everyone's piling onto Ron Artest for rocking some of fan-grills - that's to be expected...

But linking the Pacers Brawl to HIP HOP?

I got to work today, and some 50-something co-workers of mine who like to "keep up with the times" tell me that Artest is capitalizing on his legal troubles by plugging his new RAP album.

I couldn't speak on it till I read up on it, so when I check the Post I see that he's actually producing a singing group called Allure (he does drop a verse on one of their songs, however - which hardly makes it a "rap" album). It's 3 girls trying to be Destiny's Cousins, though - not an emcee in the bunch!

I promptly corrected my coworkers - mission accomplished & my culture is once again safe from misrepresentation, right?

Later that evening watching my man Conan O'Brien, he does a whole monologue on Artest & his "Rap CD". Then later in the show, one of his GUESTS goes at it again, joking about busting caps in punk ass fans & the whole stereotypical nine.


I'm down with Conan, I really am, but I was mad at that. That's either shoddy work on the part of his research people or just downright slanderous bias at the expense of hip-hop. And we all know how universally accepted it has become to down hip-hop, don't we?

and OH YEAH! Thanks to the SOURCE magazine for shouting out "the neo-soul sounds of the POEM-CEES" in their November issue

...guess we all gotta climb in SOMEBODY'S box...so I give up
