From gentle nudging, to witty joning, then to slanderous impersonation, these poem-cee guys know how to work the angles of human motivation. Aight AIGHT KNUCKAS!!! Get off my jont and tell ya..., naw nevermind. In the words of my mans Dres from the Black Sheep glory days, this is the fly shit that you seek. (click, Click, CLICK!!!) DJ Stylus does it undercover, and maybe sometimes a little too self-effacingly. Your points are duly noted you nags. To the 4 people out there that read this page, I hope to see you this Thursday. It's getting warm out, State is in limbo and the Gardens is long gone. U Street needs this.

note: the bias exhibited against west coast legends Rodney-O and Joe Cooley is the opinion of picasso and (probably) stylus the hater. let it be known that naturalaw-dp was, is, and shall remain a fan of classics like "this is for the homies", "everlasting bass" and of course, "DJ's & MC's Supercuts (yeah boy)". also note that these jonts all dropped before the "F*ck New York" album that (unfortunately) introduced them to many east coast rap listeners.

that is all- please continue reading below

During hi-school, me & this cat would to sit next to each other in band, he on trumpet, & me on sax - but after school, we would sit over each others basements gorging ourselves on this thing called hip-hop music. Well, because he was a budding baby dj & would do house parties, he would sometimes come over & borrow a hot record or two, explaining that it (the record in question) would "set the party off right".
The following is an actual copy of a letter being sent to one Charles "DJ Symphoni" Bruce, a producer/DJ for the
PLEXUS crew and a childhood friend of yours truly.

To: Charles Bruce

action/reaction...

kids like risk
music sells risk
kids buy music

radio plays music
music becomes popular
kids buy music

radio goes corporate
corporations don't like risk
radio plays it safe

music companies go corporate
corporations don't like risk
music companies play it safe

kid turns on radio
kid can't find risky music
kid turns to internet

music company loses $, hates internet
radio loses $, hates internet
kid saves $, loves internet

conclusion?
corporations killed creative music broadcast creating kids who will now kill corporations by downloading everything and buying nothing

(yeah right- like that'll ever happen)

i am a shameless gonad-swinger
i dangle from the nutz of those worthy of carrying a bogot like me...
slum village, opus akoben, k'alyn, federico gonzalez pena...i cling to those guy's huevos like an olympic gymnast clinging to the parallel bar
but i reserve the tightest grip for my original crew: THE WORLD FAMOUS SOUL CONTROLLERS
more specifically: DJ Book
whether he's infiltrating the nefarious world of big-time urban radio, or bashing out a mix for OUR NEW SHOW ON XM SATELLITE RADIO, Book is my main inspiration in the world of dj'ing

i put Book up there with J-Rocc, as far as being the uber-funky mix provider
Book got Primo in his hip pocket
Book be turnin' water into wine on the turntables (thus making me a sack-juggling wino)
for that reason alone
i shall forever keep the metaphysical cobra clutch on his bizzalls...

Happy Birthday to Jill Scott

It's been a while since we've talked - Sure, travelling the globe gathering accolades & decimating concert halls, rubbing 'bows with the famous & powerful, one can expect to lose track of a FEW people, but dag, It's US....

Patrick & DP ?

doooooo yewwwwww reeeeee-mem-berrrrrrrrr me?

you snatched our cash while playing Cee-lo in front of the 11th Hour about 2 years ago?

You & Steph Renee made fun of my whips busted trunk that kept flyin' open while we drove?

You used to like my Grover imitation

You showed us how to control Dejando the incredible overplaying bass player

and if you wanna go waaaaaay back - you rocked short hair under baseball caps at poetry house parties & dropped everyones jaws with dope-ass poems that started "I - I - I -I ...."
well, you remember.

I just wanted to say Happy Birthday & I'm proud of you & what you've accomplished in what may seem like a short time, even though we both know It's been a long time coming. You've inspired us to knuckle up & to keep on. I see you on TV & feel that there's hope for us poets yet...who needs a Grammy?

tell Lyzel I said what's up,
